Wow it's August already! I meant to blog about every event that I covered individually but I forgot due to moving house and other reasons. Sorry guys, here are the highlights in “double bills” to make up for my lack of blogging.

DUMS Awards Dinner
I was roped into shooting for Durham University Music Society Awards Dinner the night before, because their original photographer had unfortunately fallen ill. There was no time to check out the venue – Radisson Blu, Durham beforehand due to the short notice. Fortunately, I have shot there before so all was well.
The votes were counted during some very good looking dinner, and the awards were given out shortly after dessert was served. I think the winners must have worked their backsides off because each of them won more than one award! By the way, loved the look of the glass trophies, very classy. Thanks all!

Sciences Ball
Students from the Maths, Psychology, Chemical and Engineering Societies all got together for a fantastic night in Durham. The Sciences Ball was held in Radisson Blu again, but don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely place, just that I was shooting there again only a few days after the DUMS Awards Dinner haha.
The theme for the night was Fairground, so think lots of red/white/blue bunting everywhere. There were red noses (the ones from red nose day) for everyone on the tables and they were great fun, good call by the hosting committee!
A lovely jazz performance from Castle Big Band (I think it was them...?) followed the delicious looking three course meal. The dance floor filled up pretty soon, until the ents* drew the attention away slightly. There was a tin can alley, “throw-a-hoop-thing” (I don't know what its called...) and some fairground snacks – candy floss and popcorn. They had PIZZA OR CHOCOLATE FLAVOURED POPCORN!! I tried some pizza AND chocolate flavoured popcorn, it tastes much better than it sounds, I would recommend at least trying it.
A DJ (unfortunately I never caught his name) took over from the jazz band and kept the dance floor busy long after the jazz band had packed up. Shame I had to go to shoot Itchy Feet Durham so I couldn’t stay until the very end. Pretty sure everyone had a great time, I will let the photos speak for the night.
*ents = entertainments, such as tin can alleys/dodgems/fairground rides etc. Durham student slang.
